But I didn't start there...
I didn’t start in recruiting — I started in retail at Hallmark in high-school.​ I took out student loans, pushed myself to graduate college in three years, overloaded on credits, worked an HR internship, while simultaneously holding a job in HR, and sat on the SHRM board to earn my SHRM-CP when I gradated. I did everything “right” to land a role in HR —where I discovered recruiting.​
What surprised me most? My first recruiting boss told me in my interview that he valued my retail sales experience from highschool far more than my HR background. That moment changed everything. I realized recruiting is a skill and that there’s an entire industry built around hiring people, closing talent, and changing people lives for the better.
Since then, recruiting has completely transformed mine. I became a top-performing recruiter with one of the highest candidate close rates in the industry, founded and scaled multiple recruiting firms, and built and trained recruiting teams from the ground up all while traveling the world, investing in real-estate, and being financially free to live my life. I’ve seen firsthand how mastering this skill can create freedom, income, and opportunity — without a traditional gate-kept career path.
That’s why I train recruiters now: to give others the same freedom, confidence, and career mobility that recruiting gave me.
